New Auxiliary "P" list-server!
The National "P" department takes pleasure in introducing our new
National "P" department email list-server. Most of you are familiar
with list-server concepts from your reception of email from the National
Chief Director's list-server. You may also be receiving email from
other National Departments such as "A". In case you are unsure of how a
list-server works, please read on.
What's a list-server?
A list-server is a way for Senior National "P" Department Staff to send
important and timely information via email, to all members that are
subscribed to our list-server. It enables Senior National Staff to get
information to all levels at one-time rather than processing email
through a cumbersome email forwarding system.
More email - I get too much already?
Actually, a well managed list-server creates less email. Rather than
receive multiple copies of email forwarded through the chain, you
receive one email directly from the source. We are very sensitive to
your email overload concerns and because of this the "P" list-server
will be fully moderated. That means, only email that has been carefully
screened for importance and relevance will be sent through our
list-server.
Can I reply to our new list-server?
No, our "P" list-server will be one-way only. That is, email will be
sent out but replies via our list-server will not be processed. This
will spare you all from receiving dialog email between others, in your
inbox.
What if I want to reply to an email I received?
We hope that you do reply. In fact, some of the list-server email you
will receive will be asking you for a response. We will always provide
an alternate email address to receive your responses. You can always
reply to feedback at auxpdept.org
What if I do not want to receive email from our new list-server?
For National "P" department staff, that's not an option. Our
list-server will be one of the primary ways we communicate with you.
Should you leave National Staff you can "unsubscribe" yourself at:
http://auxpdept.org <http://auxpdept.org> or request we unsubscribe you
at feedback at auxpdept.org . You are welcome to remain a recipient of our
list-server messages for as long as you want.
For DSO-PS and ADSO-PS officers, we would hope that you would want to be
part of the developments and we really want you participation and
feedback in our initiatives. It doesn't work without your
participation.
What about the SO-PS, FSO-PS officers and others:
We welcome all subscribers and most especially our SO and FSO officers.
Rather than automatically subscribe all of these folks, we're giving
them all the option to subscribe themselves. It's very easy. Just go
to http://auxpdept.org/ <http://auxpdept.org/> and follow the simple
instructions.
We are asking all of the DSO-PS officers who receive this introductory
message to forward this invitation through their chain to their District
SO and FSO officers. Contact us at feedback at auxpdept.org if you need
additional info.
SUMMARY:
I welcome you all to this important "P" department communications tool.
As always we welcome your comments, criticisms and suggestions about
this or any "P" department activity. Just write to
feedback at auxpdept.org . We're listening!
Gregg Trask - DC-P
